Charted propofol dose against the infusion pump¶
The charted propofol bolus total against the volume the Orchestra pump records, as a check of the propofol heaping model and as a dose in mg/kg with its uncertainty.
| Side | value |
| Status | planned |
| Variables | Propofol bolus, Infusion pump rates and volumes, Weight |
| Studies | Rounding and heaping of propofol bolus |
The question¶
How close is the charted propofol dose to what the pump delivered?
Inputs¶
Each input links to its measurement page: how it is timed, how its value was recorded, and how uncertain both are.
| Input | Unit | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Propofol bolus | mg | Propofol bolus (clinical table). |
| Infusion pump rates and volumes | Drug infusion rates and volumes from the pumps. | |
| Weight | kg | Weight (clinical table). |
Why the atlas changes the answer¶
The charted dose is heaped (Rounding and heaping of propofol bolus). Where a pump also delivered propofol its volume is recorded independently, which gives a rare check of a rounding model against an independent record.
Takeaways¶
Planned, but weaker than hoped. The Orchestra propofol pump is in about half the recordings (458 of 846 sampled), but only 2 of those 846 also have a charted propofol bolus: pump cases are infusions, and the charted total is the manual bolus. The two records mostly describe different doses, so this needs the pump's own bolus deliveries, not its total volume.
Studies it relies on¶
| Study | Date | Status | Summary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rounding and heaping of propofol bolus | 2026-10-13 | current | Recorded propofol bolus is a mixture of 3 rounding modes (preferred values, 50 mg, 10 mg (base)); the model gives the true value's distribution for each record. |
